abstract | FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: method for clotting time determination in a liquid medium, such as blood or plasma, involves obtaining a microfluidic device, inserting a sample into it, continuously monitoring the position of the liquid front as a function of time L(t), and obtaining a theoretical value of the liquid medium front as a function of time before clotting. The clotting time is defined as the time elapsed from the moment the reaction began, until the controlled clotting function L(t) deviates from the theoretical value by more than a threshold value. In this case, the microfluidic device comprises means for introduction of a liquid medium sample, an area connected to the said means permitting liquid medium movement along the length of the microfluidic channel at least partially covered with a hydrophilic material so that the liquid medium flows under the action of capillary forces only, and a section in the beginning of the said area, comprising a reagent reacting with the said liquid medium and triggering a clotting cascade. n EFFECT: invention facilitates clotting time identification. n 4 cl, 17 dwg, 2 tbl |
