titleOfInvention | Thickener comprising at least one cationic polymer obtained by inverse emulsion polymerization |
abstract | FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: thickener prepared by inverse emulsion polymerization of a) at least one water-soluble, ethylenically unsaturated monomer comprising at least one cationic monomer, and b) at least one ethylenically unsaturated associative monomer. The temperature during the inverse emulsion polymerization is kept constant and is at least 40°C, and after completion of the said inverse emulsion polymerization, an activator is added to yield the thickener. The said thickener comprises at least one activator and the said activator is a surfactant. Ethylenically unsaturated associative monomer which is component b), is selected from compounds of formula RO-(CH2-CHR'-O) n -CO-CR"=CH 2 (I), wherein R is alkyl with 6-50 carbon atoms, R' is H or alkyl with 1-4 carbon atoms, R" is H or methyl, n is an integer from 0 to 100, and the cationic monomer which is component a) is selected from compounds of formula wherein R 1 is H or alkyl with 1-4 carbon atoms, R 2 is H or methyl, R 3 is alkylene with 1-4 carbon atoms, R 4 , R 5 and R 6 independently represent H or alkyl with 1-30 carbon atoms, X is -O- or -NH-, and Y is Cl; Br; I; hydrogen sulfate or methosulfate. A composition, composition application and thickener application are claimed as well. n EFFECT: improved rheological properties in terms of the thickening effect, thinning at shear load, polymers provide improved detergency. n 27 cl, 8 tbl |
