abstract FIELD: technological processes. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparation of 3,4-dihydroisoquinoline of the formula (1), where R1 and R2 represent a methyl group, X is absent, n is 0, Y represents a halogen atom, a methyl group, or methoxy group, and m is an integer from 0 to 2, comprising reaction of a compound represented by the general formula (2), where R1, R2, X, Y, n and m are the same as previously defined, in the presence of an acid in the solvent at a temperature of more 40°C and less than 200°C or the solvent boiling point, wherein the acid is an inorganic acid selected from the group consisting of hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, or an organic acid selected from the group consisting of an organic carboxylic acid and organic sulfonic acid, and the solvent is a benzene-based solvent, a solvent-based ester, a nitrile-based solvent, an amide-based solvent, a urea-based solvent or a chlorinated solvent.
