abstract FIELD: technological processes. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of producing wax and sterols from Patiria pectinifera starfish. Method involves extraction of raw material with 96 % ethanol, procedure is repeated three times, combined extracts are evaporated, then obtained concentrate is diluted with distilled water to content of ethyl alcohol of 20-30 %, then produced solution is filtered and passed through column with DEAE cellulose, balanced with 30 % solution of ethyl alcohol, foreign impurities are washed with gradient of ethyl alcohol (40→55 %), and fraction containing wax and sterols, is eluted from sorbent with gradient of ethyl alcohol (65→96 %); then eluate is evaporated, concentrated residue is dissolved in 96 % ethanol, filtered, then obtained solution is frozen at temperature of -18…-20 °C for 24 hours; then precipitate is centrifuged, is washed with cold 96 % ethanol, dried in air; then obtained white powder containing total wax and sterols fraction, is applied onto chromatographic column with silica gel and wax is eluted with hexane, then eluate is evaporated in vacuum and dried, then sterols are eluted with hexane → acetone gradient, eluate is evaporated in vacuum and dried. n EFFECT: invention provides wider spectrum of biologically active substances obtained from Patiria pectinifera starfish. n 1 cl, 3 dwg, 1 ex
