FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of reducing a C-O bond to corresponding C-H bond in a substrate by a hydrogen donor, a transition metal-based catalyst and a base in a solvent mixture containing at least two solvents. Method is characterised by that one is water, where ratio of at least two solvents, one of which is water is 1-10:1 (solvent: water), and that amount of base is non-stoichiometric with respect to amount of substrate, except in cases when substrate is an ether containing an ester fragment or alpha-position relative to carbonyl or beta-position relative to alcohol group. n EFFECT: use of disclosed method enables to achieve high output. n 10 cl, 4 dwg, 24 ex |
