abstract | FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to vapour phase method for selective removal of at least 80 mol% of acetylene impurities from incoming gas flow. Said incoming flow includes C2-C9 unsaturated hydrocarbon monoolefin, diolefin and acetylene impurities. Method involves contact of incoming flow in vapour phase at temperature ranging from 250 °C (480 °F) to 900 °C (1,650 °F) with solid catalyst, not containing zinc, and then output of output stream, where output stream maintains at least 95 mol% of C2-C9 unsaturated hydrocarbon mono- and diolefins, but does not contain at least 80 mol% of acetylene impurities. Catalyst contains only following metals: Ni, Fe, alkali metal and optionally alkali-earth element(s), where Ni is contained in an amount of 0.25-20 wt% of dry residue of catalyst, Fe is contained in an amount of 30-75 wt% of dry residue of catalyst.
