abstract FIELD: agriculture. n SUBSTANCE: disclosed group of inventions relates to manufacture of pet food, containing glucose antimetabolite and selenium. In one embodiment, pet food composition contains glucose antimetabolite in amount of 0.0001 % to 5 % by weight of composition and selenium is added in an amount of 0.05 to 10 mcg/g of composition. In another embodiment, pet food composition contains glucose antimetabolite and selenium. Selenium consists of endogenous selenium and added selenium, and total amount of selenium in composition ranges from 0.15 to 7.0 mcg/g of composition. In third embodiment, pet food composition contains glucose antimetabolite and added selenium, where selenium is added in an amount of 0.05 to 10.0 mcg/g of total composition and glucose antimetabolite is contained in an amount of less than 5 % by weight. Added selenium can be selected from a group consisting of sodium selenite, sodium selanate, selenium oxide, selenide, selenocysteine, selenomethionine, selenised yeast, selenised garlic, selenised cabbage and combinations thereof. Glucose antimetabolite can be selected from a group consisting of 2-deoxy-D-glucose; 5-thio-D-glucose; 3-O-methylglucose; 1,5-anhydro-D-glucitol; 2,5-anhydro-D-glucitol; 2,5-anhydro-D-mannitol; mannoheptulose; and combinations thereof. Method of enhancing beneficial effects associated with administration of glucose antimetabolite, comprising administering a composition comprising glucose antimetabolite and selenium, wherein total amount of selenium in composition ranges from 0.15 to 11.0 mcg/g of composition. n EFFECT: disclosed group of inventions limits caloric intake, which increases life expectancy, suspends rise and slows development of tumours and slow down physiological aging of animals. n 22 cl, 1 dwg, 1 tbl
