Emergency self-retaining sutures and packaging therefor |
abstract |
FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine. Removable bidirectional self-retaining suture material contains first and second ends, a periphery and multiple fasteners. Holders on first section of suture material between first end of suture material and first axial location on suture material allow suture material to pass through tissue in direction of first end and prevent suture material from passing through tissue in a direction opposite to movement of first end. Holders on first section of suture material between first end of suture material and first axial location on suture material allow suture material to pass through tissue in direction of first end and prevent suture material from passing through tissue in a direction opposite to movement of first end. Gripping engaging element between first and second axial locations has an enlarged gripping surface. n EFFECT: suture material can be used for temporary wound closure in individuals suffering from injury, and can be easily removed once said individual is provided adequate medical treatment. n 14 cl, 22 dwg |
