Surgical approach devices with sorbent agents |
abstract |
FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: fluid removal appliance intended for use in a surgical approach device comprises a crown and sorbent element. On its proximal surface, the crown has a scraper. The crown has also a gap in its side wall. The sorbent element surrounds the crown and is configured to absorb the fluid removed by means of the scraper; the sorbent element has opposite proximal and distal surfaces and opposite inner and outer side walls extending between the proximal and distal surfaces so that the sorbent element has a polygonal cross-section. The proximal surface is substantially flat, whereas the inner and outer side walls have the radius of curvature. The inner side wall forms the centre opening extending through the sorbent element; and the sorbent element has a gap so that the sorbent element is C-shaped. The sorbent element is made of a number of fibres configured to absorb fluid. The gap in the sorbent element fits that in the crown. n EFFECT: invention maintains an unobstructed sight through the lens of a visual inspection device during surgical intervention. n 8 cl, 32 dwg |
