FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: fire resistive composition contains a phosphorus-containing polymer. The phosphorus-containing polymer is first produced by carrying out a reaction of a phosphonium compound and a nitrogen compound with a precondensate formed, and then by carrying out a reaction of the precondensate and a cross-linking composition. A phosphorus-containing intermediate polymer produced is further oxidised to make at least a part of phosphorus atoms in the polymer quinquivalent.
