abstract FIELD: motor car construction. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to checks for leaks in fuel system and shutdown engine. Fuel system controller can be changed over to active mode after definite time interval elapsed after ignition switch-off moment sufficient for fuel tank pressure and temperature stabilisation. After fuel tank pressure and temperature stabilisation, fuel pump can be actuated to up the pressure of vapours in fuel tank and to reveal leaks in fuel system by the rate of the next pressure drop. n EFFECT: enhanced tests for fuel leaks, reduced amount of harmful emissions and their probability. n 20 cl, 6 dwg
