abstract FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to drying solid materials or articles using heat and a method of drying 5(6)-amino-2-(4-aminophenyl)benzimidazole, which is used as a monomer in production of high-strength, heat-resistant fibres and films. The method includes drying an aqueous paste of 5(6)-amino-2-(4-aminophenyl)benzimidazole by heating in a current of an inert gas while raising temperature in steps, the first step being carried out in the temperature range of 100-120°C until residual water content in the paste is no more than 4 wt %, and the second drying step being carried out in the temperature range of 130-150°C until residual water content is no more than 0.2 wt %. The process can be carried out in a vacuum. n EFFECT: method improves the drying process, prevents caking and agglomeration of particles into solid agglomerates, improves quality and cuts the duration of the process. n 2 cl, 2 dwg
