abstract | FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: in one version, the composition is a mixture of at least one high molecular weight trace modified polytetrafluoroethylene (TMHPTFE) in amount of less than 1 wt % and at least one melt-processable fluoropolymer (MPF). The high molecular weight polytetrafluoroethylene has number-average molecular weight of at least 500000. After depositing on a substrate, optionally over a primer, or a substrate and/or an intermediate coating and subsequent curing, the present compositions form coatings which demonstrate high wear resistance and/or improved release properties and/or improved translucence/transparency and/or high air-tightness. The present compositions can also be used to make films having high degree of transparency and air-tightness.
