abstract | FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing ethyl benzene, which includes a step of conducting an alkylation reaction in gas phase or mixed phase conditions, which includes reacting benzene with ethanol containing up to 20 wt % water, at pressure higher than atmospheric pressure in the presence of a catalyst system which contains a zeolite belonging to the BEA family, and a step of separating the obtained ethyl benzene.
