Absorbent articles containing multifunctional gel |
abstract |
FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: improved skin-adhesive compositions for bonding a substrate, such as an absorbent article, to skin are disclosed. An absorbent article comprising a fluid impermeable substrate has a body-facing surface and a garment-facing surface. The body-facing surface has a skin-adhesive and absorbent gel composition thereon for bonding the substrate directly to a user and for absorbing bodily fluids. The skin-adhesive and absorbent gel composition includes a hydrogel, wherein the hydrogel is bonded to a fibrous material and the ratio of the hydrogel to the fibrous material ranges from 30:1 to 100:1. n EFFECT: high fluid retention and protection from leakages during periods of high activity or movement of the user. n 9 cl, 5 dwg |
