abstract | FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: catalyst composition for polymerisation of conjugated dienes contains: (a) a metal-containing compound, wherein said metal is selected from a group consisting of transition metals and lanthanides; (b) N-heterocyclic carbene; (c) an alkylating agent; and optionally (d) a halogen-containing compound which includes one or more active halogen atoms, provided that the halogen-containing compound is present if neither the metal-containing compound nor the alkylating agent does not contain an active halogen atom. Said carbene includes N-heteocyclic carbene of formula or , where R 1 and R 2 are selected from a group consisting of C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 2 -C 12 alkenyl, C 2 -C 12 alkynyl, phenyl, alkyl-substituted phenyl and mixtures thereof, and all can be identical or all can be selected separately but cannot be H; R 3 and R 4 are selected from a group consisting of H, C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 2 -C 12 alkenyl, C 2 -C 12 alkynyl, phenyl, alkyl-substituted phenyl, and mixtures thereof and all can be identical or all can be selected separately.
