abstract FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to catalysts for hydrofining diesel fuel, methods of preparing said catalysts and methods of producing low-sulphur diesel fuel. Described is a catalyst which contains the compound [Co(C 6 H 6 O 7 )] 2 [Mo 4 O 11 (C 6 H 5 O 7 ) 2 ] in amount of 30-45 wt %, titanium dioxide 0.8-6.0 wt %, Al 2 O 3 51.0-69.2 wt %, which corresponds to the content of the following in a catalyst which is calcined at 550°C, wt %: MoO 3 - 14.0-23.0; CoO - 3.6-6.0; TiO 2 - 1.1-6.2; Al 2 O 3 - the balance; having pore volume of 0.3-0.6 ml/g, specific surface area of 150-220 m 2 /g and mean pore diameter of 8-15 nm, moulded into particles in form of a tri-lobe shape with diameter of 1.0-1.5 mm, having bulk mechanical strength according to Shell SMS 1471 of not less than 1.5 MPa. The method of preparing the catalyst involves making a support containing, wt %: TiO 2 - 1.5-7.5; Al 2 O 3 - the balance; having specific surface area of 170-240 m 2 /g, pore volume of 0.5-0.95 cm 3 /g and mean pore diameter of 8-15 nm, by moulding paste obtained by mixing powdered AlOOH and TiO 2 with water, nitric acid or ammonia, followed by drying and calcination; applying the compound [Co(C 6 H 6 O 7 )] 2 [Mo 4 O 11 (C 6 H 5 O 7 ) 2 ] onto the obtained support by incipient wetness impregnation or from excess solution, and drying.
