abstract FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a method of producing a pigment paste, involving mixing a pigment, water and a surfactant and then removing water to residual moisture content of 2-5% by using as surfactant at least one amine salt selected from a group of amine salts of formula (R(CH 2 ) x - NH 3   + ) y R - , where x is an integer from 1 to 3, y is an integer from 1 to 3; R is a higher fatty acid residue, R - is a mineral acid residue or an organic acid residue. Said surfactant is added to the pigment which is first ground in intense frictional force conditions in an aqueous medium in amount of 0.5-10% of the weight of the mixture of pigment and water. n EFFECT: method simplifies the process by cutting the number of steps and excludes heating the mixture when removing water, reduces power consumption 2,5-3 fold and ensures stability of the paste during storage without a toxic or inflammable varnish base. n 24 cl, 8 ex
