abstract FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agglomerated zeolite adsorbents. Disclosed is a powdered zeolite X based adsorbent with low content of silicon dioxide and containing barium or barium and calcium in an exchange complex. Disclosed also is a method of obtaining an agglomerated zeolite adsorbent, in which a mixture of zeolite clay and a silicon dioxide source is formed, treated with sodium hydroxide, washed and subjected to ion exchange. The adsorbent is recommended for use when separating sugar, alcohols containing several substituted hydrogen atoms, isomers of substituted toluene, cresols or when extracting paraxylene of very high purity. n EFFECT: invention enables to obtain an agglomerated adsorbent with small crystals and high mechanical strength. n 22 cl, 7 tbl, 9 ex
