titleOfInvention | Method for determining nasal mucociliary clearance speed |
abstract | FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely otorhinolaryngology. To evaluate nasal mucociliary clearance, a surface of inferior nasal concha is coated with marker particles to measure a particle travel time. A smoothest segment extended for min. 1 cm is chosen on an anterosuperior surface of the patient's inferior nasal concha wit using a device comprising a handle having a tip with notch marks on its surface for the purpose of measuring length, and on its front end there is a carbon dust chamber closed by a movable cover with a hole formed opposite to the chamber. Carbon dust is shaken off on an initial part of the chosen segment of the surface of the inferior nasal concha from the chamber to measure the particle travel time of the distance measured or specified with using the device. Nasal mucociliary clearance (V) is calculated by formula V=L/T wherein L is the particle travel length, T is the particle travel time of the distance L. n EFFECT: method provides higher accuracy of determination of nasal mucociliary clearance due to considering anatomic features of the nasal structure. n 2 ex |
