abstract | FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of separating hydrocarbon rubber from a polymer suspension containing hydrocarbon rubber dispersed in a diluent. The method involves the following steps: (a) bringing a polymer suspension into contact with a hydrocarbon solvent capable of dissolving hydrocarbon rubber to obtain a first liquid phase and a second liquid phase and (b) separating the first liquid phase from the second liquid phase. The diluent contains a fluorohydrocarbon. The first liquid phase contains at least 60 wt % fluorohydrocarbon in terms of the total weight of fluorohydrocarbon in the polymer suspension. The second liquid phase contains at least 90 wt % hydrocarbon rubber in terms of total weight of hydrocarbon rubber in the polymer suspension.
