abstract FIELD: medicine. n SUBSTANCE: there is disclosed method for making a preformed tampon in protective envelope, preferentially prepared by winding of a fibrous nonwoven strip. The preformed piece composes a tampon in the separate pressing stages by means of press load from outside and to produce a finished piece product, is provided with a film sleeve tightly surrounding the tampon as a protective envelope. To reduce process costs, particularly for a nonround-section tampon before making a finished piece product in the protective envelope, essentially cylindrical preformed piece prior to the last deformation stage is arranged within the film sleeve surrounding at least lateral surface of the preformed piece. Then the preformed piece including the surrounding film sleeve is delivered to the last deformation stage wherein is deformed between at least two mutually movable press-on jaws to model an untrue final shape. n EFFECT: there is described method for making the tampon packed in the protective envelope. n 6 cl, 4 dwg
