abstract FIELD: construction. n SUBSTANCE: it is suggested to produce hydrogels by polymerisation of mixtures that consist of 80-100 parts of polyethylene dimethacrylate with formula (1), 0-20 parts of vinyl compounds that copolymerise with (1) and 100-10000 parts of water with addition of radical generators at temperature that is lower at least by 15°C than dimness point of 10% solution of dimethacrylates corresponding to formula (1) in water. Hydrogels produced by suggested method are transparent and elastic, are suitable to be used as material for contact lenses, gels for electrophoresis, materials for membranes or anti-noise masses.
