abstract FIELD: chemistry. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of fire and explosion safety, and specifically for preventing ignition and explosion of methane-air mixtures. The method involves introduction into the atmosphere of a protected volume when the concentration of methane in the air reaches 3-4%, a two-component gas composition, which consists of carbon dioxide and carbon tetrachloride with the relation of the parts of the components CCl 4 :CO 2 =1:(6-9). As this takes place the amount of carbon tetrachloride in the protected air volume is kept at 2-3% of the volume. n EFFECT: increase in the effectiveness of the method of preventing ignition and explosion with minimal use of the inhibiting composition. n 1 tbl, 3 dwg
