titleOfInvention Method of applying polymer coatings to protect surfaces against atmospheric effects
abstract FIELD: polymer materials. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of surfaces of various-nature materials, including metals, naturally occurring and simulated stone, and wood, and can be applied in operations associated with restoration of historical monuments: buildings, low relieves, sculptures, and architectural décor. Method of invention consists in that surface is cleaned to remove external pollutants, degreased, and dried in air, after which surface is coated with a layer of solution of individual fullerene C 60 or mixture of fullerenes C 60 and C 70 in organic solvent in amounts 1-10 mg fullerenes per 1 m 2 surface. Surface is then dried in air during one day, after which irradiated with UV emission on wavelength 150-350 nm for at least 1 h, power of emission ranging from 1 to 10 W. As UV emission source, lamps or light diodes are used. Increase in efficiency of protection of surface coated with polymer layer is not caused by simple isolation from environmental effects but because of inhibiting and stabilizing activity of polymer layer disconnecting chain chemical reactions of oxidation, hydrolysis, photo- and thermodestruction. n EFFECT: achieved long-term resistance of surface against effects of aggressive environmental effects. n 3 cl, 2 dwg, 22 ex
