abstract | FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to organic synthesis, in particular, to a method for synthesis of levulinic acid esters used as aromatizing agents in perfume, tobacco and food industry. Method for synthesis of levulinic acid esters of the general formula: wherein R means alkyl involves interaction of furfuryl alcohol with aliphatic alcohols in the presence of a catalyst wherein iron acetylacetonate Fe(acac) 3 as catalyst. Reaction is carried out in CCl 4 solution in the mole ratio [Fe(acac) 3 ] : [furfuryl alcohol] : [ROH] : [CCl 4 ] = 1:(50-200):(100-400):(100-400), respectively, at alcohol boiling point for 2-5 h.
