abstract | FIELD: medicine; urology; nephrology; surgery; oncology. n SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic scanning of kidney is carried out, followed by calculation of volume of kidney. Ultrasonic scanning of kidney is performed by means of Voluson 730 Expert (GE, USA) diagnostics apparatus by application of detector for three-dimensional reconstruction RAB 2-5. By means of Vocal program, angle of cut of volumetric image is assigned within 9-30° range. Calculation of volume of kidney of preset cuts for number of images of 6-20 is performed. Results of calculation are summed automatically and volume of kidney (V kidney ) and volume of kidney sinus (V kidneysinus ) is achieved. Volume of renal parenchyma is calculated by means of formula of V parenchyma , cm 3 =V kidney , cm 3 -V kidneysinus, cm 3 . Relation of volumes of internal structures (S, %) is calculated from formula of S=(V kidneysinus /V parenchyma ) x100%. In case S belongs to 14-21%, normal relation of intra-renal structures can be testified.
