abstract | FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology, herbicides. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an improved method for synthesis of phenoxy-substituted 2-pyridone compounds of the formula (2): that can be used as an intermediate substance in synthesis of medicinal or agricultural preparation, in particular, a herbicide compound. Invention proposes a method for synthesis of phenoxy-substituted 2-pyridone compounds of the formula (2) wherein R represents phenyl or radical of the following formula: wherein R 1 represents halogen atom or nitro-group; R 2 represents hydrogen atom or halogen atom. Method involves interaction of amide compound of the formula (1): wherein R is given above with at least compound chosen from group comprising compounds of formulae (3) (4) (5) and (6) wherein R9 represents alkyl and malondialdehyde in the presence of protonic acid.
