abstract FIELD: foundry, possibly manufacture of casting molds in mass, large-scale and piece production processes. n SUBSTANCE: casting molds and cores are made from molding sands on base of organic binders, After assembling mold, liquid metal is poured into it. Simultaneously mold is blown through ventilation ducts by air heated up to temperature 300 - 700°C. Blowing is realized at rate 2 -20 l/min. Oxidation catalysts are used for neutralizing gases separated from molding sand. Oxides selected from CuO, Co 3 O 4 , MnO x where 1.7 < x < 2.0 are used as catalysts. Catalysts may be included to molding sands. When ventilation ducts are in the form of coaxial tubular members catalysts are arranged in cavity between said members. n EFFECT: highly effective neutralization of toxic gases from casting mold, elimination of gas-caused flaws in castings. n 5 cl, 5 dwg
