abstract FIELD: medical equipment. n SUBSTANCE: the apparatus for treatment and prophylaxis of inflammatory diseases of body has an ultraviolet light source radiating a beam of ultraviolet light, optical matching unit, light conducting device connected to it, and a contact device of irradiation by ultraviolet light also connected to it, and a contact device of irradiation by ultraviolet light also connected to it. An are discharge lamp serves as the light source, in which the current supply device is connected to the electrodes installed in a quartz cylinder. The cylinder is filled with gas or a mixture of gases radiating light partially in the ultraviolet spectrum. The lamp is provided with concave mirror reflecting part of the radiated beam of ultraviolet light, and a condenser lens focusing the full beam of ultraviolet light. The quartz cylinder, concave mirror, condenser lens are positioned in a housing having an outlet.
