titleOfInvention Process for heterogeneous catalyst-assisted disinfection of water with hydrogen peroxide
abstract FIELD: water treatment processes. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to water treatment processes and can be used to disinfect water in water supply systems. In the process according to invention, hydrogen peroxide is added to water in one go and water is then kept for 0.1-0.2 h prior to passed through granulated or palletized catalyst bed so that water-catalyst bed contact time would be 0.5-1 h. Catalyst is prepared by mixing pulverized pyrolusite with a copper compound selected from following group: cupric sulfate CuSO 4 ·5H 2 O, cupric nitrate Cu(NO 3 ) 2 , cupric chloride CuCl 2 , cupric hydroxide Cu(OH) 2 , and cupric oxide at pyrolusite-to-copper compound (calculated as Cu2+ ions) ratio equal to (100-150):1, after which resulting powder-like mixture is moistened with distilled water to form paste, which is palletized or granulated, and pellets or granules are partially dried at 105-150°C. n EFFECT: simplified water disinfection process, reduced expenses and prevented secondary bacterial contamination of water over a long period of time. n 2 cl, 1 tbl, 5 ex
