abstract FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology, medicine, pharmacy. n SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for preparing nateglynide representing N-(trans-4-isopropylcyclohexylcarbonyl)-D-phenylalanine that is used as a therapeutic agent in treatment of diabetes mellitus as it decreases blood glucose level effectively after oral administration. In particular, invention relates to methods for preparing nateglynide crystals of B-type practically free of crystals of H-type. Method involves drying solvated wetted nateglynide crystals at temperature 60°C and below up to complete removal of solvent and crystals are crystallized for their conversion to crystals of B-type at temperature from 60°C to 100°C.
