titleOfInvention Method for removing water vapors and gaseous fission products of fuel form gaseous medium inside contained for shipment and/or storage of spent fuel assemblies of nuclear reactors
abstract FIELD: containers for long-term dry storage of spent nuclear fuel. n n n SUBSTANCE: at least one sealed getter material package is installed in container holding spent fuel assemblies of nuclear reactor. Container is pressurized whereupon getter material package is depressurized by radiation and/or thermal action of spent fuel assemblies in the course of their storage. Calcium oxide is used as getter material. As an alternative palladium oxide can be added to getter material. Provision is made to eliminate ahead-of-time contact between getter material and gaseous medium filling inner space of container. n n n EFFECT: optimized use of getter material, enhanced radiation safety and service life of container. n n n 2 cl, 3 dwg
