abstract FIELD: oxidation catalysts. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to manufacture of mineral fertilizers and, in particular, can be used in synthesis of a sulfuric acid. The described method of preparing catalyst for converting SO 2 into SO 3 includes mixing of solutions of active components with silica carrier powder, molding, and heat treatment and is distinguished by that, silica carrier is first impregnated with sulfuric acid at weight ratio from 1: 0,5 to 1:1,2 and then mixed with a mixture of potassium vanadate and liquid glass solutions, which improves distribution of active components in volume of the catalyst and raises its dispersity.
