abstract FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of synthesis of 1-substituted 3- hydroxymethyl-4-(4-fluorophenyl)piperidine of the formula (I) by reduction of compound indicated in the invention claim of the formula (II) with metal hydride in ether medium as preferable diluting agent in the presence of inorganic salt being preferable as halide. Invention relates also to method of synthesis of (-)-trans-4-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-[3,4- methylenedioxy)phenoxy] methylpiperidine (paroxetine).
