FIELD: inorganic compounds technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to functional fillers for paper, paints, and cover substances, in particular to calcium carbonate and to a method for controlled treatment of the surface thereof. According to invention, double-layer bimolecular coating is applied on 20-60% of the surface of calcium carbonate in aqueous media. Amount of coating is found as function of average diameter of calcium carbonate in terms of following equation: containing material r = degree of coverage (g/sq. m) x (5.99/d.dp)(sq.m/g) x CaCO 3 (g). Coating material is represented by saturated and/or unsaturated carboxylic acids with chain length up to 32 carbon atoms, in particular fatty acids, substituted fatty acids or their salts. Maximum average diameter of calcium carbonate id 50 mcm. EFFECT: enabled controlled coating of calcium carbonate with regulated yield stress, viscosity, dispersibility, and adhesion capacity. 9 cl, 1 tbl, 12 ex |
