FIELD: biotechnology, microbiology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of stereoselective reduction of phenylalkylketones to their corresponding (S)-hydroxy-compounds and to a novel strain of microorganism. For realization of chiralic reduction the novel strain of microorganism Micobacterium sp. MB 5614 that is deposited in ATCC at an inventorial number ATCC 55557 is used. The proposed method shows less labor intensity and more economy as compared with the known method of chemical chiralic reduction of corresponding compounds.
