titleOfInvention Strain of fungus claviceps purpurea (fr) tul vkm-f-3662 d as producer of ergocornam
abstract FIELD: microbiology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel strain of ergot. Ergocornam strain of parasitic ergot culture Claviceps is selected using the highly vital parent material obtained from ascospores in the process of generative development of fungus and the following individual selection of sclerotia in the process of competition testing their progeny based on chemical composition of ergoalkaloids. The strain of fungus Claviceps purpurea (Fr.) Tul. is deposited in All-Union collection of microorganisms in Institute of biochemistry and physiology of microorganisms AN RF at number VKM-F-3662 D. In saprophyte culturing the obtained strain in synthetic medium T-2 the distinct growth of the strain appears on 5-6-th days and accompanies firstly with formation of cotton-like white mycelium that then acquires gray-violet color staining the nutrient medium. Conidii are formed in 18-23 days followed by the fruit bearing stage. Spores have the following sizes in the strain culturing in medium T-2: length is 3.4-8.8 mcm, width is 2.5- 5.3 mcm. Sclerotia containing the required alkaloid are formed on ears in 1-1.5 month after rye infection with fungus conidiospores. The strain of fungus Claviceps purpurea (Fr.) Tul. VKM-F-3662 D provides the biological yield of ergots in average 80 kg/ha and using hemetocides 278 kg/ha, the total amount of alkaloids is 0.5-0.8% where ergocornam content is 0.2-0.4%. This strain has no the known prototypes and presents the novel strain with fixed biochemical function of synthesis of lactam alkaloid ergocornam. EFFECT: new strain of fungus indicated above, increased yield of ergots and ergocornam.
