FIELD: immunology, biochemistry. SUBSTANCE: protein is isolated from bacterial strain Moraxella catarrhalis, cellular lysate obtained by disruption of cellular mass of bacterial strain is fractionated by centrifugation for preparing precipitate and supernatant. Precipitate is extracted selectively to remove residual soluble proteins, membrane proteins and other proteins differing from protein CD and other contaminating impurities. The remaining CD-containing precipitate is dispersed, solubilized and then fractionated by centrifugation to remove cellular residue. The strain Moraxella catarrhalis RH 408 is used for preparing protein CD of external membrane. Protein CD is used in immunogenic compositions, in part, for administration to patient in vivo. Invention ensures to develop the protection against diseases caused by bacterial pathogen which produces protein CD or protein that is able to induce antibodies in recipient and showing specific reaction with protein CD.
