FIELD: chelating compound. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chelates of metals of the formula (I) where M means titanium, zirconium or hafnium in formal oxidation state +2, +3 or +4; R' means phenyl, biphenyl or naphthyl; R * means hydrogen atom or hydrocarbyl; X means halogen atom or methyl. Invention relates to also catalysts of olefins polymerization reaction comprising these ligands and a method of polymerization of C 2 -C 100000 -α-olefins, especially ethylene and styrene, using these catalysts. The use of the novel catalyst of olefins polymerization results to high-effective formation of high-molecular polyolefins in the broad range of conditions of polymerization reaction.
