abstract | FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel method of synthesis of 2,3-pyridine dicarboximide of the formula (I) where R means hydrogen atom, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl or C 1 -C 6 -alkoxymethyl; R 1 means hydrogen atom, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C(O)-R 2 , phenyl, benzyl; R 2 means C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, benzyl or phenyl. Method involves interaction of compound of the formula (II) where R means the indicated values; R 6 means C 1 -C 6 -alkyl; R 7 means OR 8 or NR 9 R 10 ,; R 8 means hydrogen atom, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, C(O)-R 11 , phenyl, benzyl; R 11 means C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, OR 12 , NR 12 , R 13 ,, benzyl or phenyl; R 12 and R 13 mean hydrogen atom, C 1 -C 6 -alkyl, benzyl or phenyl; R 9 and R 10 mean hydrogen atom, C 1 -C 6/ -alkyl, benzyl or phenyl with maleic acid imide of the formula (III) where R 1 means the above indicated values. Describing method is acceptable for its realization under industrial conditions and ensures to obtain the end product with high yield and high degree of purity. Invention relates also to a novel intermediate substance of the formula (IV) where R means hydrogen atom, C 1 -C 4 -alkyl or C 1 -C 4 -alkoxy-methyl-group; R 6 means C 1 -C 4 -alkyl; R 8 means hydrogen atom or C 1 -C 6 -alkyl.
