titleOfInvention Method of control of rhomelt process
abstract FIELD: metallurgy; production of molten iron carbide semiproduct by Rhomelt process of liquid-phase reduction of iron. SUBSTANCE: in the course of reduction the following parameters are controlled: temperature of slag, composition of flue gases and content of ferric oxides in slag. Content of ferric oxides in slag is maintained at preset level; as content of ferric oxides in slag increases which is accompanied by drop of slag temperature and increase of CO/CO 2 ratio in flue gases, amount of carbon fuel loaded in furnace is reduced and/or delivery of oxygen-containing blast air is increased below level of slag and/or delivery of oxygen-containing blast air above level of slag is increased. EFFECT: enhanced reliability of Rhomelt process control; reduced losses of metal with slag; avoidance of frothing of slag and its uncontrollable ejections; ensuring trouble-free operation of furnace.
