abstract FIELD: decorative-artistic finishing of products from wood in folk artistic crafts. SUBSTANCE: method comprises multiple priming of product surface with composition, ratios of ingredients being as follows, wt parts: dibutyl phthalate, 0.002-0.015; 50% aqueous polyvinyl acetate dispersion, 0.04-0.1; starch, 0.1-0.18; water, to working viscosity, or dibutyl phthalate or dibutyl sebacinate, 0.002-0.015; 50% aqueous polyvinyl acetate dispersion, 0.04-0.1, drying oil or flaxseed oil, 0.006-0.012; surfactant, 0.0008-0.0012; white spirit, 0.009-0.0016; and water, to working viscosity. Said operation is followed by polishing, coloring, artistic painting, varnishing with addition of foamphthalic varnish of siccative based on metal carboxylates to form solid coating of surface of product made of wood which is free from cracks, swelling followed by coating with colorants and varnish to impart gloss and retain high- grade painting.
