FIELD: medicine, peptides. SUBSTANCE: invention proposes biologically active compound, tetrapeptide L-alanyl-L-glutamyl-L-asparagyl-L-proline of the general formula: L-Ala-L-Glu-L-Asp-L-Pro, that stimulates functional activity of neurons and pharmacological agent containing effective amount of tetrapeptide of the formula L-alanyl-L-glutamyl-L-asparagyl-L-proline (L-Ala-L-Glu-L-Asp-L-Pro) or its salts as an active component designated for parenteral, intranasal and oral use. Method of stimulation of functional activity of neurons involves prophylactic and/or curative administration to patient pharmacological agent in doses 0.01-100 mcg/kg body mass at least once in a day for time that is necessary to obtain therapeutic effect. Invention can be used as agent stimulating functional activity of neurons in traumas and diseases of nervous system.
