FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: described is method of purifying C 2 -C 11 carboxylic acid resulting from liquid phase C 1 -C 10 alkyl alcohol and/or reactive derivative thereof in said method volatile iridium and/or volatile copromoter impurities are converted into non-volatile forms when the latter are reacted with iodide in the presence of carbon monoxide at its partial pressure which is less than that during carbonylation reaction.
