SUBSTANCE: invention describes new derivatives of arylsulfonylhydroxamic acid of the formula (I) where values Ar, R 3 -R 8 , Y and X are given in p. 1 of the invention claim. Compounds can be used as inhibitors of matrix metalloproteinases or tumor necrosis factor formation and used for treatment of patients with arthritis, carcinoma, ulcer tissue formation, restenosis, periodontal disease, inherited bullate apidermolysis, scleritis and other diseases exhibiting matrix metalloproteinase activity and AIDS, sepsis, septic shock and other diseases involving tumor necrosis factor formation.
