abstract FIELD: sources of high- pressure gas pulses, for example, for acceleration of projectiles. SUBSTANCE: source of high-pressure gas pulse for acceleration, for example, of projectile along the gun barrel comprises a structure containing a high-voltage electrode for initiation of axial electric discharges in the respective axial clearances (discharge gaps) behind the through hole accommodating the projectile. Plasma runs at right angles relative to axial discharges into the mass of the propellant, which is transformed into a component of the high-pressure gas pulse. The gaps are made in such a manner that at a shift of the projectile from its initial position and when it stays in the barrel the power applied to the plasma through the gaps that are nearer to the outlet exceeds the power applied to the plasma through the gaps that are more remote from the outlet. To prevent damage to the gun, the gaps are so made that the power applied to the plasma is the same in all discharges at initial formation of plasma. The gaps have walls, which erode differently at application of discharges so that a quicker erosion occurs in the walls of the gaps located nearer to the outlet as compared with that in the walls of the gaps that are more remote from the outlet. The propellant mass includes solid propellant and oxidizer, which do not enter into reaction in the conditions of environment, when part of the fuel sets against the structure.
