FIELD: sorbents and water treatment. SUBSTANCE: sorbent for treating water, including drinking water, to remove toxic impurities is prepared by impregnating activated carbon with ammonium nitrate or ammonium carbonate solution of silver salt with silver concentration 0.10-0.50 wt % at carbon-to-solution volume ratio 1: (0.3-0.5) followed by heat treatment in fluidized-bed furnace at 120-250 C.
