FIELD: organic synthesis. SUBSTANCE: 9- aminocamptotecine with formula I (presented in description) is prepared by reaction of compound depicted by formula III, wherein hydroxy group of ring A is located in position 10 or 12, with nitration agent to form corresponding compound IV. The latter is further converted into compound V in which XO is a group replaceable upon hydrogenation. Next step of reaction consists in reductive removal of group XO and simultaneous reduction of nitro group in compound V to give final product (I).
