abstract |
FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: method comprises preparing cumene hydroxide by oxidation of cumene in liquid phase in the presence of oxygen and at least one agent selected from alkali and alkaline-earth metal hydroxide and carbonate. Said agent is used in amount from 2 to 10 ppb (calculated per sodium hydroxide) with respect to amount of cumene added. Method makes it possible to carry out above-mentioned reaction of cumene oxidation at high oxidation rate. In order to maintain such rate, it is not necessary to conduct reaction under conditions less favorable for efficiency. Method makes it possible to dispose of problems connected with contamination of filters installed prior to step of concentration of the resulting hydroperoxide.
